Rabbi Zera

Rabbi Zera got sick and Rab Abhu came to visit him.

He took it upon himself that if the little one (Rabbi Zera), with the burned hip, gets better I will make a party for the Rabbis.

He got better and he made a meal with all the Rabbis.
When it came time for Hamosei Rabbi Abhu said to Rabbi Zera lead us.
Rabbi Zera said back, do you not hold that the Rabbi Yochanan said that the Ba’al Habait should lead?
So Rab Abhu said Hamosei for the Rabbis.
It came time to make Zimun:
Rabbi Abhu said to Rabbi Zera: Say Zimun for us.
Rabbi Zera replies: Do you not hold like Rab Huna who says that one who says Hamosei should say Zimun also?
It seems to be that Rab Abhu does not hold like Rab Huna or else he would not have asked him to say Zimun.
Who does Rab Abhu hold like, which Shita does he hold like?
He holds like Rab Yochanan in the name of Rab Shimon Ben (Bar) Yochai:
The Ba’al Habait should say Hamosei, and the guest should make Zimun.
Why is it important for the gust to say Birkat Hamazon on behalf of everyone?
Because he has to say Birkat Orayah for everyone.

Why is it important for the Ba’al Habait to say Hamosei?
So he could give the bread out generously, because he knows how many loaves were made, etc.
